Before you hire a moving company Ft Lauderdale you have to make sure the company is reputable. Just because they have been in business for many, years does not mean they have a great reputation. Conversely, if a company has only been in business a short time, that doesn’t mean they don’t have the experience.
The first item on your checklist should be to check out the BBB (Better Business Bureau) in your state. If there are any complaints or legal issues pending you will be able to read about them and cross those companies off your list right at the start.
Before the Internet, people had to resort to calling people to get a recommendation. While this is still a viable method of checking references it seems with caller ID, you aren’t assured you will reach anyone. It might be best to check online for written reviews. People are only too happy to write about their experiences.
Once you have a list narrowed down to a few commercial moving companies, you need to ask them a few questions. Ask if they can give you a “not to exceed” quote after they review what you are moving. Once they give you a quote, ask if the quote includes any extra charges such as truck charges, parking charges, fuel charges, etc. Make sure they are prepared to handle the heavy equipment. And always ask what form of payment and under what terms the company expects payment. If they require a deposit, be leery. Be leery about a company that only accepts cash. Ask if they accept credit cards. You want to make sure that insurance is included in the quote and if something were to happen to an item (broken or missing), what is the process for reclaiming the amount of money owed?
It might take a little longer but if you are assured the company you hire is going to go the extra mile to make sure your valuables arrive safe, it is worth the time.
